Social work education is in the middle of a renaissance. According to the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the number of accredited Master of Social Work (MSW) programs increased by over 50% between 2010 and 2020. On top of that, programs old and new are embracing online and hybrid formats, adding more specialized degree tracks, and taking other measures to bring more impassioned, skilled professionals into the field. MSW programs in California are following this inclusive trend.
From fast-paced 16-month degree tracks to part-time online programs, the CSWE-accredited MSW programs on this list stand out for their rigorous curriculums and student-centered approaches to education. In the complex and often emotionally-taxing world of social work, a strong foundation can make all the difference.
